Malvern Marathon Results 2014

The Malvern Marathon Results 2014 results are out here!

The event is only a race in as much as you are competing against yourself, the hills and the weather, but a small amount of analysis helps to compare your own result from year to year. Last year I finished 99th in a time of 7:28 hours, the weather was cool. This year it was 66th in 6:54 hours and the weather was significantly warmer. Obviously an improvement, but was it even better than the 34 minutes suggests?

There are a few ways to look at this. Firstly, average finish times:

From this crude analysis it does look like it was a slower event in 2014 than 2013 due to the weather, 20 mins slower for runners and 15 for walkers on average. The following couple of graphs help to illustrate this too. So, next year my target is 6 hours!
